Yesterday ( February 5th, 2017) will go down in the annals of Tamilnadu’s Political history. A lady with absolutely no experience of even competing in any election was unanimously handed over … Continue reading Mummy Returns! Or does she?
I am a voter in my early twenties. I am an Indian. The reason why I am pushed to write this as an open letter is because I am fed up. Fed up with this negativity of yours and whom you call the righteous people. I happened to read this article today and am ashamed to admit that a person who is seemingly educated can stoop so low.
I would also assume that, you being a very learned person , would be well versed and familiar with our country’s history. Political history,I meant. Especially the Post Independent era of India. You might know who was actually ruling when and the events associated with it. In such a scenario, it baffles me as to why a person who has had the guts to come to the forefront and take the responsibility of setting things right is getting targeted and bashed by esteemed scholars like you. Even in a company, when something bad happens it takes considerable amount of time to set things right. It is amusing to see that, you, as a learned person, expect miracles to happen in a short span of time when the company under question is a country of 1.2 billion people, if I am not wrong.
And during my entire observation, it does look like politics have become more a personal thing for you. You, who also claim to follow Mahatma’s legacy, have comfortably forgotten that one is supposed to hate the evil and not the perpetrator. But then, who cares for what the Mahatma actually stood for, right? All you need is some silly reason to bash and tarnish an individual’s image.
And every time you do this, Sir, you are forgetting that the Individual under question did not become the Prime Minister of our country by coup. He did it in the way that our Holy Constitution says. I hope you do realise that, in thr pretext of bad naming him, you are ,in fact bad naming every single individual who voted for him. How do you expect us to treat you, when you question our choice of the PM. Isn’t that, by the way, invasion into our personal space and choices? Especially when you claim to advocate freedom of choice.
And do you actually think that a bunch of teenagers have voted and only because of that he has become the PM? I must say, I admire your logic. For a learned individual, you seem sinfully misinformed. But then, again, who cares? As long as you get your daily dose of individualistic and personal bashing, this shouldn’t bother you.
Sir, let me tell you with all my humility, as a voter all I care for is an India with everything good. I need politicians to work on something, prove his mettle and then talk. I haven’t seen anything proven by you till date sir. You might say that your party leader has proven a big list of things that he had wanted to do. Then please let him do the talking and not you. I have voted and will continue to vote for who ever takes the responsibility to govern India in a way that She deserves. It is not up to you to judge it.
As a voter, I will not value a person who makes personal attacks for something unrelated and who is having a chip on their shoulder regarding things. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance, you see. The PM seems to have a better idea about it and that’s why he has won so many hearts.
Finally, I would be the happiest person if you manage to prove your track record in a streak of ten years and then resume your bashing, if that’s so irresistible to you. I , for one, would definitely not vote for you even then, but would nevertheless be happy that you have shown what you are capable of.
From a disgruntled Indian who is disgusted with the personal attacks against his PM.
With the Lok sabha elections running into its final-but-not-so-insignificant phases, we look back and see the run up to the polls since Time Zero. For most of us , this polls are just about three individuals, ( well, as far as i can see, it looks that way) RaGa-NaMo and Kejri.
Now what is the deal of these three lead faces of their respective class and what makes them tick and what bombs??
The scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Rahul Gandhi, has finally woken up to active politics ,voicing his opinion every now and then. Though the heir-apparent spares no moment to emphasize whatever he says is just his personal take on things, the Congress party shamelessly proceeds to adopt it as the final and binding word on things. The dimpled hearthrob still continues to steal the sleep of not only girls all over the country but also of the First Family of Indian Politics for obvious reasons.
What makes RaGa tick?- Taking over the reins of a troubled Congress party and an almost and most assuredly sunken UPA govt, RaGa has displayed enormous amount of courage to come out in favour of the INC and UPA. In a time, when every possible wind blows against UPA this time, RaGa has really shown nerve to defend his party leaders. His voice in favour of youth and empowerment and his ideas per se sounds pretty impressive and projects great future if implemented to the dot.
What flops?– Though his ideas and views seem impressive ( yeah it really is!), it is almost futile for him to even try doing this. Inspite of spending crores on an image makeover and also featuring in a notorious interview with the “Angry Young Man of Indian Media” Shri ArGo, whatever the INC has done to escalate and show RaGa as the “Face of Dveelopment” under it has miserably failed. Lack of proper communication skills and repetition of a few chosen words to the media has given good news to his critics whereas the exhibition of his physics knowledge( Escape velocity!) during the campaigns have equally flustered the Partyworkers equally.
Party Chemistry and Support- Here is where the INC scores a goal without a doubt. Without a second thought all the leaders backing whatever RaGa says shows the amount of control the First Family has.(Though it is yet to be known in the open whether this is due to Sonia or RaGa himself). This kinda gives an impression that INC is pretty much autocratic in the top level with least importance to the concept of Democracy (Ordinance on corruption was a “non sense” only when RaGa voiced it out and it was cancelled even though otherwise it had the Cabinet majority). With people like Sanjay Jha, Salman Khurshid, Diggi, Ajit Singh etc in the picture, there is no lack of entertainment for the public as these people are infamous for their verbal and logical skills and reasoning. Public opinion says INC can do better without these “Jalras and Jokers” team.
Final take– Though the ideas are great, the damage seems to have been done already by the Honorable senior leaders. With the extent of control and decision making capacity of RaGa yet to be proven, it is still a cat on the wall for him and the UPA eventually. With the public mood strongly against another UPA government in centre, there is a really tough job remaining to be done for the INCians- Convince the Janta and earn the trust of voters. Unlikely huh?? REMAINS TO BE SEEN!
The Man of the Moment ! AAhhhh… where to start from?? For any political novice or a layman from the other world, Indian polls 2014 would seem like NaMo polls.. That much is the hype and hulla around him these days. Ranging from Gujarat Model of Development to Face of BJP to “assured Stable and good governace”bit to Chai pe Charcha to 56 inch wala item to NaMo kurtas, there isn‘t an area that has‘nt been taken off by NaMo. People from all walks of life -quite literally- Kiran Bedi, Thackeray, Normal Urban Upper middle class,Shobha De, Mallika Sherawat etc seem to favour Namo. This Former RSS Karyakarta and Sanghi is definitely posing a biiiiig threat to the dreams of inheritance by the Congress and seems to manage everything with considerable ease and poise.
What makes Namo tick?- The main USP of NaMo has been his Model state of Gujarat. Unlike his political rivals, he has a definite proof to showcase his administrative talent and efficiency. Moreover the ground support that he enjoys with the Gujjus is magnificient. His speeches and rallies drip with energy and optimism and he spares no chance to target the First Family of Indian Politics. His take on Governance and stability and his views and projected growth plan for Indian Economy have excited numerous folks. The stature of this man, his speeches and self discipline along with his proven track record of the much needed Infrastructural and employment development and opportunites are definitely a big thrust to the BJP’s hopes this tym. A definitely “BEST SELLER MATERIAL”
What flops?- He too has his own undisputed share of controversies. The Gujarat Riots, his past hindutva nationalist ideological leaning, the so-called sidelining of BJP veterans, his occassionally messed up knowledge of Indian History, his alleged reluctance to face” the nation”( Nation= Arnab Goswami) ,the snoopgate, the ADANI-AMBANI wala bit, and finally his controversy with Jashodaben. With every other person in the political fray sparing no stone unturned to tarnish NaMo’s image, he does emerge much stronger, thus adding fuel to the already fuming fire in the other fields. His riots history and Snoopgate allegations do have an adverse impact on him but he remains unfazed by those and sees no reason to respond to these comments. But,whatever be the present, past is as important as far as Indian Politics is concerned.
Party Chemistry and Support- The BJP seems to stand firmly united behind their candidate. Occassionally we do hear a lot of murmuring inside the Party itself but it doesnt burst out as expected by those who start those murmurs. though it is alleged that this leadership has sidelined the party veterans, they manage to deal it inside itself. With occassional goof ups by Subramaniam swamy and others, the insider fighting is the main source of attraction for the BJP.
Final take– With stability and development being the need of the hour, BJP is on the right track , striking the right chords with the masses. People do feel a little betrayed by the controversies surrounding NaMo and Jashodaben and Snoopgate, but it seems the Janta knows what priority to set.
The eternal AAM AADMI!! The Political Revolutionary, who made heads turn to his side with the steady clarity of thoughts and purpose of floating a Political Party. The “Saviour” sort of figure, who came to the political scenario to save India from the bloody greedy hands of corrupt politicians has waned a lot since his Intro song. From his campaigning to the dharna style, he has provided a Bollywood style glitz and glamour to Indian politics. His 49 day stint in Delhi remains to be the much talked about stint of any CM till date which was ended bitterly over The Lokpal Bill.Though his style of administration and his take on Corruption and the inefficient cabinet of Shiela Dixit earned him a lot of admirers, his dharna wala activities and his quitting the government in a huff garnered a lot of criticisms as well.
What makes Kejriwal tick?– His “man next door “looks and charisma, his total accessibility to the aam aadmi and his clarity on national issues have impressed the old and youth alike. His campaigning and invitation of funds and donations from the public and the transparency of fund movements in AAP scores. AAP and Kejriwal have definitely brought about a revolution in the political scene and have created a wave of awareness and definite participation of youth in the democracy. No longer are people shy or wary of admitting themselves to be a political activist or active politician. he has struck a chord with the Aam Janta.. The Pied Piper!!
What flops?- His “Angry young man ” image reminds us of a much younger Amitabh Bachchan in Sholay. His dharna style of administration and lack of maturity in handling the government have certainly fuelled a lot of criticisms. Moreover, more than Kejriwal himself, it is the actions of his accomplices that really gets to the nerves. People like Ashutosh, Somnath Bharti, Rakhi Birla and more recently Shazia Ilmi have all let words out of their mouths without a pre-thought about them. His decision to quit Delhi Govt for whatever reasons he might say, is still seen to be an ambitious move aiming for the Lok Sabha polls. This makes the brows of many to furrow out there. Though his ideas impress, he is still a big question mark when it comes to Stability and maturity.
Party chemistry and support- Party unanimously supports Kejriwal in whatever he says and that reminds me a little of RaGa style. People who rebel are thrown out pitifully and this doesn‘t look good for a promising party. But for that, Kejriwal has an army of strong supporters ( to such an extent that tweeps and netizens have named them AAPtards!!).
Final Take– Intention is good, clarity of thoughts, transparency in administration scores for AAP while the immaturity and lack of experience and takes on a few issues like FDI in retail and activism and the mere presence of people like Ashutosh pulls it down. Like for BJP, past is also equally determinant for this Rookie. But Kudos for the genuine attempt. Honestly, people would have loved to see your governance skills in Delhi for five full years and would have been more convinced to vote for you in 2019 Lok Sabha polls. But for now, you seem to be in a hurry!
